Bonita Tarr

September 6, 1957 — August 9, 2025

Bonita Rae Tarr, 67, of Portland, OR, residing in Carmel, Maine, passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Born on September 6, 1957, in Portland, OR, to Don and Berneice Cross, Bonnie grew up on the farm. She was most comfortable tending to animals, raising her beloved pigs. When she wasn't working, Bonnie went camping and fishing with her family, drove all sorts of vehicles on the farm, and managed to find a proper amount of mischief.

A caregiver by profession, she loved to dote on others. She showed her affection through acts of kindness, gifts, and attention. Bonnie had a profound love of animals. Over the course of her life she had many family pets but she was especially fond of her dog, Bandit, and pig, Cinnabon "CB". She enjoyed going to the beach, collecting shells and unique rocks - especially heart shaped rocks. A skilled bowler, a natural caregiver, and an avid collector of pig figurines, Bonnie will be missed by so many.

Bonnie is survived by her mother, Berneice Cross; sister, Teri Cross; and brothers, Don Cross and Dennis Lindseth. She is also survived by daughter Shenita Veazie and her son Jason Tarr, and his wife Chelsea; as well as her grandchildren, Jordan, Cassidy, Brody, Kolby, James, Charlotte, Benjamin, and Lucas. She was predeceased by two of her four children, Jonika Tarr and Brett Tarr, as well as her father, Donald Cross.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 from 1-4pm at the Tarr residence in Wells, ME. Please contact Chelsea Tarr for location details (207-274-9064 or chelseatarr@gmail.com). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bangor Humane Society in Bonita's memory.
