OLD TOWN, MAINE - Dalton "Dolly" Runnells, 90, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. He was born in Howland, Maine, on August 22, 1935, the son of James and Fern (Amero) Runnells.

At an early age, the family moved to Old Town, where he attended Old Town schools. Dolly played basketball in both Junior High and High School for the Old Town Indians, a time he remembered fondly.

After finishing school, he began his own drywall business, working alongside his sons, Allan and Ken. Together they became well known throughout Central and Coastal Maine for their quality workmanship-and for the many antics that made long days on the job memorable.

Dolly is survived by his wife, Barbara (Scribner); son, Allan and his wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Tammy Runnells; grandchildren, Beth, Michael and wife, Amanda, Kenneth Jr., and Wade Runnells; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Riley, McKenna, Noah, and Ariana; sisters-in-law, Jean, Lynn, and Zoila and brothers-in-law, Paul and Norman.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Sr.; brother, Richard; sisters-in-law, Joanna, Marcie, and Jean; and brothers-in-law, Warren, Buddy, Peter, and Wade; aunt and uncle, Natalie and Forrest Delano, of Howland, with whom he shared many happy times. He is also predeceased by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends from the Old Town Elks Club.

A Celebration of Dolly's Life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Condolences to the family may be expressed at SimplceCremationofMaine.com.
