Donald J. Volk

ORONO - Donald “Don” James Volk, 64, passed away unexpectedly in his home on April 25, 2025. He was born May 1, 1960, in Englewood, New Jersey the son of Kenneth Volk, and Jane Otto.

Don obtained his Veterinarian license at Tufts University, in 1996. He moved to Maine in 2004 where he took over Timberland Animal Hospital which he owned and operated alongside his wife, Ann, and loyal Veterinary Technician, Alicia, for 21 years.

When Don wasn’t caring for the community's pets, he enjoyed woodworking in his garage, and sailing with his wife on their cherished sail boat to The Caribbean. He looked forward to retiring along the coast at their Brooklin property that they were having built.

Don was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Volk. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ann Volk; step-daughter, Kate Lindsay; sister, Linda Bennett; mother, Jane Otto and nephew, John Bennett.

Don will be missed by many community members who have trusted him and his team with their beloved pets. He was a family man, so in lieu of flowers he would want you all to spend a day with your families.
