Emily Parsons

Emily Margaret Ann Parsons, 88, of Holden, ME., went home to her Lord and Savior after a peaceful passing at her home surrounded by family. Emily was born on December 31, 1936 to Linwood and Eva (Simon) Bowden.

Emily graduated from Brewer High School in 1955. She was very proud of this and would often tell people how much she truly loved school.

Emily met her husband, Phillip Parsons, while working at WT Grant's in Bangor, ME. Phillip had asked to be her date for the annual company party. They were married shortly thereafter on October 12th 1956.

Emily is survived by her loving husband, Phillip; 4 of her 5 children, Warren Parsons of Holden, Judy Mason of Hudson, Karen Marquis (husband Joseph) of Winn, and James Parsons (wife Tina) of Orland; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son, Ricky Parsons, whom passed away due to illness in 1986

Emily and Phillip maintained a motorized paper route during much of the 1980s and 1990s for Bangor Daily News, delivering papers over the towns of Holden, Brewer and Eddington. They had created the routes in those areas that are still utilized today. Throughout the years, Emily had also worked in retail and on various committees for Essex St. Baptist Church, Bangor Grange, The Missionaries', Marriage Encounter, and her beloved TOPS groups, all of which she had been a member of for more than 55 years.

During the years following retirement, Emily and Phillip would travel to Florida to spend their winters helping missionaries and escaping the snow and cold. Summers were spent camping as often as possible in Maine with their family, reading in her sun porch, shopping days with her kids, grandkids and great grandson, and enjoying her many organizations.

Funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Essex St. Baptist Church in Bangor, Maine. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at a light luncheon immediately after the service. All who knew Emily are welcome to attend.
