Frederick Smith

Corinna, Maine

Frederick H. Smith, 76, died peacefully at home May 24, 2025. He was born February 8, 1949, in North Searsport, the son of Herbert R. and Edna M. (Connor) Smith.

Frederick graduated from Searsport District High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation he was employed at the Bucksport paper mill for 20 years. He owned the Smith's Country Market in Frankfort for 18 years. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Frankfort Fire Department and also and EMT for the Town of Winterport. He served as the constable of Frankfort for many years. Fred was a lifetime member of the Tarrantine Tribe #13 I.O.R.M. Belfast, ME. He belonged to the Granite Grange in North Searsport, ME. Fred met the love of his life Linda Gross and settled in Frankfort, ME. They celebrated 44 years of marriage in February.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda (Gross) Smith, are his daughters, Deborah L. Spaulding, and her husband, Mark of Cape Coral, Florida, Wendy S. Tripp, and her husband, Larry of Frankfort, Bobbie Jo Gillway, and her husband, James of Searsport; A son, Andrew J. Leali, and his wife, Melissa of Corinna; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his son, Frederick Smith II.
