With profound sadness, we announce the death of Harriet Jean Cameron. Harriet passed away peacefully at her home in Dexter, Maine on June 20, 2026, surrounded by her dearest and devoted loved ones.

Born on January 20,1946 in Nova Scotia, Canada, Harriet immigrated to the United States in 1964 with little more than determination, courage, and hope for a better future. Through perseverance and unwavering resilience, she built a life defined not by what she had, but by what she so generously gave to others.

For decades, Harriet dedicated herself to caring for those in need through her work as a home health support provider. She possessed a rare gift for making people laugh, feel safe, valued, and cared for.

Her kindness was quiet but profound, and countless individuals and families were touched by her compassionate heart and gentle hands.

Although life was not always easy and there were times when money was scarce, Harriet never allowed hardship to diminish her generosity or her devotion as a mother. Her greatest pride and deepest joy was her beloved daughter and family. Harriet worked tirelessly to ensure her family never went without, willingly sacrificing her own wants and needs.

Her legacy is not measured by wealth or possessions but by the countless lives she touched through compassion, sacrifice, resilience, sense of humor, and love. She taught those around her that true strength is found in kindness, that generosity is measured by the heart rather than the wallet, and that a mother's love knows no limits.

Those who knew Harriet will remember her strength, resilience, and generosity. She found beauty wherever she was, allowing her to create a warm and welcoming home that reflected her creativity, grace, and love of family. She found joy in gardening, antiques, yard sales, sitting by the water and decorating her home.

Harriet is survived by her daughter, Eileen Naughton Charbonneau, of Maine; her sister, Rosemary Nicklow, of Maine; her niece, Grace (Andrew Hebert) Safien, of Illinois; her nephew, Donald Young, of Maine; and great niece, Acadia Hebert, of Illinois.

She will be forever remembered by the many friends, family members, neighbors, and those she cared for whose lives are richer because of her presence.

She is predeceased by her mother, Dorothy (Sutherland) MacDougall; her father, Frederick Cameron; sister, Doreen (Cameron) Granger; and son-in-law, Richard Charbonneau.

In the end, Harriet was exactly where she wanted to be-in the beautiful home she lovingly created with her daughter holding her close and her faithful longtime friend by her side. It was a peaceful and fitting farewell for a woman whose life had been devoted to caring for everyone else.

Though Harriet has left this world, the love she gave remains. Her strength lives on in those she inspired, her kindness echoes in every life she touched, and her memory will forever be a blessing. Harriet will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
