Henry Trial Jr.

Henry Trial Jr. passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at a private home care facility. He was born on May 13, 1949, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Henry Trial Sr. and Ruth A. Barnes Trial.

Henry was a graduate of Cony High School and the University of Maine, where he earned a Master of Biological Science degree. His working career was dedicated to the Maine Department of Forestry, where he managed the Spruce Budworm Project.

Henry married his college sweetheart, Joan Garner, and they celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage. They were inseparable and shared a profound love for the outdoors and for each other. Throughout their years together, Henry and Joan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting at the Hermon Skeet Club.

Henry was also an accomplished marksman, winning numerous statewide pistol competitions. His beloved dogs were his constant companions and held a special place in his heart.

Henry was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Joan Trial. He is survived by his brothers, Larry E. Trial, and his wife, Barbara, of Augusta, Maine, and Harland B. Trial of Texas; his four nieces, Kimber-Leigh McArthur, Robin Richardson, Kelley Sayers, and Michelle Garner. He was pre-deceased by his niece, Tricia Brennan.

Henry will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his accomplishments, his loyal companionship with his dogs, and especially for the many years of love and memories he shared with Joan.

The family extends a special heartfelt thank-you to Jill and Mike Reardon for their loving care, kindness, and compassion toward Henry during his final months in their private home. Their generosity and devotion meant so much to Henry and his family and will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
