James S. Kelley

James Kelley, 73, of Orono and Southwest Harbor passed away on August 24, 2026 at his home in Orono with his friend, Ed Kennerknecht, by his side.

James graduated from M.D.I. High School and Heystack Hinkley, where he studied Art and Ceramics. Jimmy has created amazing paintings, including a complete wall mural at M.D.I. High School. He gave many to family who will treasure them forever.

Many people will remember Jimmy's smile, his impish grin and happy attitude. He loved everyone he met.

James is survived by his brothers, Alfred Kelley of Bernard and David Kelley of Bass Harbor; seven half-sisters; cousins;niecess and nephews; and special friend, Edward Kennerknect. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Humphrey; father, Alfred H. Kelley; and brother, Randy Kelley.
