Jeff Pelletier, 62, originally from Old Town, Maine, and a resident of Bangor, died on 3/13/2026, after a relatively brief illness. As a long-time reader of Steven King, passing on Friday the 13th was only fitting for him.
Jeffrey Patrick Pelletier, born 9/3/1963 in Bangor, was a talented American musician whose gifts were discovered early, giving him a clear direction in life. He shared his gift of music with his brother and many neighborhood friends, teaching them rudimentary guitar and drum skills as he enlisted them in his jr. high and high school rock bands. Many "students of Jeff" went on to play instruments for life. Jeff's early promise outwardly dissipated in a tangle of mental heath diagnosis as the years passed, but he overcame those periods to achieve peace and stability. He lived the life of a creative, crafting music and lyrics into a body of power pop gems. Even after he stopped playing in bands around the mid-2000s, he never lost his passion for music, focusing his interests in later years on collecting LPs and CDs and Rock ephemera from the 1960s and 70s. He will be remembered by his neighbors for playing note-for-note Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Love on his Martin acoustic guitar. To the rest of us, Jeff will be remembered for his graceful dexterity, discerning taste and singular way of being in the world.
Jeff is survived by his father, Patrick; brother, Jon; sister, Jennifer, and her children Alanna and Connor. Preceding him in death in 2024 was his mother, Gina Pelletier.
An informal memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 5, at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport.
