Kenneth 'Ken' M. Nason, age 66, loving father, son, brother, papa, neighbor and friend, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by family. He was the oldest of five siblings, born March 3rd, 1960, to Pauline (Stairs)  Taylor and Kenneth Nason in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada.

Ken moved to Houlton, Maine, in 1982, and remained in the U.S. as a permanent, legal resident for the rest of his life. He worked various jobs but was most proud of his 20+ years of service in the medical field delivering oxygen and other breathing equipment to people's homes across five different states. It wasn't just a job to him; he cared deeply for the people he served and would often go the extra mile taking time to do things to help, like opening cans of food for them and putting it in containers they could handle on their own since many had no one looking out for them. He had such a big heart and strong desire to help people or animals in need, making up plates of food to share with elderly neighbors or taking in cats who needed a home. Animals were drawn to him, he had a knack for setting them at ease with his quiet, non-intrusive way and gentle spirit. He was a dedicated, full-time caregiver to his mother for several years before her passing, enabling her to stay in her home the rest of her life.

Ken was truly a jack of all trades; he learned to troubleshoot just about any home repair or restoration and would generously share his skills and knowledge with anyone who needed it. He was a proud member of the Doers' Club, getting more done Home Depot style. He said he learned you can do anything if you're willing to work hard enough and his life, including the weeks leading up to his death, was a testament to that. Ken survived life circumstances most of us couldn't even imagine in our worst nightmares and miraculously he did it with a heart that was still capable of love, compassion, empathy and humor. He kept to himself and loved peace and quiet, but also looked out for his neighbors, friends and family, always keeping a watchful eye.

Ken appreciated the simple things in life that most of us take for granted like sitting by the window at the kitchen table, having a cup of coffee and watching the birds, petting his beloved cat, George, or puttering and tending to his home and his truck. He didn't ask for much from this life, always said you can't miss what you don't have. He had an incredibly quirky sense of humor, a strong will and desire for independence, and a way of always knowing the right thing to say. He wrote beautiful, thoughtful messages in greeting cards and faithfully remembered everyone's birthdays like clockwork. Even when he had very little, he would give it all to help someone he loved in need. He was our super hero on speed dial, ready to come to the rescue at a moment's notice. He will be missed beyond measure by the people who were fortunate enough to get to know him - the world was better with him in it and will never be the same.

In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his stepfather, Freeman Taylor; siblings, Kelly Nason and Kevin Nason; grandmother, Alice Furrow; and his best buddy, Ron. He is survived by his sister, Billie Taylor and partner, Megan McCallum, (fellow members of the Doers' Club); brother, Gary Nason and partner, Colleen Flynn; son, Ryan Nason; granddaughter, Isabella Nason; nephew, Mike Nason; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; his dear, sweet neighbor and friend, Lauren Hogan; and of course, his incredibly handsome, affectionate, and courageous cat, George.

Keeping with Ken's wishes, there will be no service. Gifts in Ken's memory may be made to the Houlton Humane Society 263 Callaghan Rd, Houlton, ME. 04730
