BREWER - Lloyd L. Stinson, 82, passed away at his home on April 19, 2026. Born in Bath on March 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Elizabeth S. (Eaton) Stinson.

A man defined by his extraordinary work ethic, Lloyd began his career at age 15 in the offices of the Bath Daily Times. A 1962 graduate of Morse High School, he went on to attend Linotype School in Boston, where he also worked at Purcell's Restaurant. He enjoyed a long, dedicated career as a printer at the Bangor Daily News, retiring in 2005.

In 1978, Lloyd realized a lifelong goal by establishing his own business, which continues to operate today. He took immense pride in his work and rarely complained, always leaving for the "shop" with a smile and a kiss, famously telling his family, "That's my job." He was a devoted mentor to his children, teaching them the value of hard work and the importance of financial responsibility-GTM meaning "Get the Money".

Beyond his professional life, Lloyd had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly hunting and spending time at his deer camp. He was a lifelong enthusiast of hot rods and antique cars, frequently spending time at the family business. He was also a kind-hearted soul who took great care in feeding local feral felines, and providing shelter, ensuring they were well-tended to each day.

A message from the family: "To our beloved husband and dad, we are so sorry. You fought a long, courageous battle. After three and a half months in hospitals, you were brought back to the home in Brewer that you maintained for 56 years, passing away just two days later. It is heart-breaking that your goodbye came too soon. We will hold you deep in our hearts and cherish the love you showed us. We will look for the brightest star in the heavens, and only then will we know you are at peace. You will be so missed."

Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Donna Stinson; his beloved daughter, Phyllis; his beloved son, Lloyd J. Stinson, of Eddington; his sisters, Jeanette Snarski and Judy Stilphen; his granddaughters, Catherine Stinson (and her significant other, Adam Young), Victoria Stinson, Alivia Fabrizio, and Grace Stinson; his great-granddaughters, Sophia and Lily Young; his great-grandson, Bennett James Stinson; and a family friend, Arthur G. Bennett, of Eddington, who was considered closer to a son than a friend. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew Greg Snarski, and his brothers-in-law, Ronald Snarski and James Stilphen.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Orono Commons, the Gentiva Hospice Care Team, and Brookings-Smith Funeral Home for their care and support.

Private services will be held for the family. Condolences to the family may be expressed at Simplecremationofmaine.com.
