Louise E. Leavitt

October 20, 1944 — July 31, 2025

Detroit, Maine - Louise E. Leavitt, 80, of Detroit, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. Born on October 20, 1944, Louise grew up with her parents Harold and Irene Littlefield, along with her brother. Walter, in Detroit, where she spent most of her life.

She attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, and later built a warm and loving home with her husband of 56 years, Harry Leavitt Jr. Louise's happiest moments were the everyday ones, sharing meals, chatting at the kitchen table, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved a lively house filled with laughter and found real joy in simply being surrounded by family. Her gentle presence and love of children made everyone feel at home.

Louise and Harry shared a deep, lifelong bond. Whether they were taking scenic drives through the countryside, watching birds and wildlife, or tending to the flowers in their yard, they simply loved being together. Their quiet moments meant as much as the lively ones and their devotion to one another was evident to everyone who knew them.

Louise is survived by her husband, Harry; her children, Annette Ouellette and husband, Peter, of Old Town, Pamela Ganley of Corinna, Kirk Leavitt and wife, Michelle, of Pittsfield, Becky Leavitt-Stewart and husband, Fred, of Brewer, and Jason Leavitt and wife, Lisa, of Bradford. She was the proud grandmother of Ethan, Zackary, Taylor, Harrison, Laura, Freddy, Joshua and wife, Alyssa, Brittany and partner, Brandon, Alfie and wife, Emma, and Mariah and partner, Matt; and great-grandmother to Melody and Bennett. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Elaine Littlefield; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Irene Littlefield; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grace and Harry Leavitt Sr.; her brother, Walter Littlefield; and her son-in-law, Steven Ganley.
