Lynda Strout

April 12, 1952 — July 25, 2025

On July 25, 2025, Lynda Evelyn (Waller) Strout left us for the next phase of her journey. Mom fought a courageous battle against the loss of her soulmate and a brain tumor which she refused to allow to continue holding her hostage. Her courage and strength to endure despite uncertainty and fear will stand as the example for all who knew and loved her to follow in the face of adversity.

Lynda grew up in Saint Stephen, N.B. Canada where she met her soulmate and future husband, Kenneth Strout. One day, at the ripe old age of 12, Lynda visited the local Queen's Theater with friends and encountered the precocious young Kenneth who apparently decided pulling her ponytail was the way to her heart. She returned home later that evening and when her mother asked about the night, Lynda was apparently indignant at the assault on her ponytail but decided she liked Ken anyway. They continued to date over the next six years with countless cross-border travels and Customs Agents joking they knew when school was out because young Kenneth could be seen running across the bridge to see Lyn like clockwork.

They grew as best friends within their circle through those years traveling across Maine and New Brunswick to Sunshine band gigs sporting questionable apparel choices and a killer alien abduction story on Route 1 in Perry while traveling home from Cherryfield one night.

Lynda and Ken were married in 1970 and spent the next 53 years at each other's side. They created a loving and nurturing home for their two boys and their families. Through thick and thin they epitomized the ins and outs of a Hallmark love story.

Anyone who knew Lynda loved her warm, welcoming smile. She exuded a friendly, innocent, curious demeanor which set anyone she met at ease, immediately making them feel at home. She was amazingly inquisitive about the World around her and always seemed to have a book in hand. Her personal library at one time almost certainly rivaled the fabled Library of Alexandria. She loved philosophical discussions, anything having to do with ancient mysteries, the possibility of life beyond Earth and the afterlife. Her baking skills were out of this world. The only thing she enjoyed more than baking was baking with her granddaughters. The line for her chocolate chip cookies always wrapped around the block with family, friends, neighbors, the mailman and the occasional passerby. Loss of the recipe for those beloved cookies could easily set off the next episode of the National Treasure franchise.

She loved with every fabric of her being and cherished every moment she had with her family. Anytime she was told "I love you" her sincere response patented with a loving smile was "I adore you."

Lynda is pre-deceased by her loving husband and soulmate Kenneth Ira. She is survived by sons, Jason and Jared; daughters-in-law, Margarite and Megan; grandchildren KC, Bethany, Nataleigh and Amanda. Lynda also leaves behind a very loving and supportive extended family including her sister Carole; nieces, Elizabeth and Shanna; sisters-in-law, Jeannie and Deborah; and brother-in-law, Wilbur "Skip".

Anyone who ever met Lynda will forever be missing a piece of the absolute best this World has to offer. While we now have a hole in our hearts which will remain until the end of our days here on Earth we take comfort knowing Mom and Dad are reunited on their next adventure together and that the Universe will one day bring us back together.

"What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us."

Until we meet again...
