Madeline Eva (Hart) Lowe was born in Monroe, Maine. She was raised in Belfast but spent much of her life in Winterport where she and her Late husband Kermit Lowe, raised her children and fostered many children as well. Madeline was very active in the community. She spent time in the PTA, Waldo County head start, Waldo County community programs, Food pantry, and the odd fellows Rebbekah's. Madeline was active in fundraising with the church's for which she belonged over the years, being a large part of public church suppers. She continued to help with the public suppers at the Winterport snowmobile club for as long as she was able. Madeline was fun, loving and full of humor. She often took lead roles in church dramas. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening, Artex painting, and bowling. Madeline was not afraid to spend her own time or money to assist those in need. She will be dearly remembered and sorely missed by many.
Madeline was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Kermit, Her Daughter Megan (Lowe)Spann, and her grandson Doug Mayhew. She is survived by her Children; Leroy Mayhew (his wife Gerry, children Raymond his wife Charity and Brian, his wife Lisa), Scott Chambers (his wife Kathy), David B. Lowe , Albert E. Lowe (his wife Lesli, Children Dezirae and Albert M.) Micheal K. Lowe (daughter Ellie), Jessica Howell (her husband Danny, children Nevaeh, and Nehemiah), David E (Eddie) (children Levi, Liam, Adea, Freya) a special Nephew Sterling Lowe, a special niece Sherri Norris, special Grand daughter Mandi Spann, and a special friends George Holmes and Lisa Speed. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Madeline's life will be held at Calvary Apostolic Church on Dave's way in Hampden at 11 am June 6th, followed by a graveside service at the Oak Hill cemetery in Winterport with special guest Bro. W.E. Strout. This will be followed by a gathering for pie at the Winterport snowmobile club in memory of her annual family Pie night. It would be great to see as many people as possible join us with their favorite pie to share in her honor.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Brookings-Smith funeral home in Bangor.
