HOLDEN - With profound love and a heavy heart we announce the passing of Nancy Lee (Perkins) Koziol. She left us peacefully on September 24, 2025, following an extended illness she handled in her trademark way, with grace and Harry Potter movie marathons. Nancy was born on October 26, 1950, to parents Hazen "Pete" Perkins and Martha A. (Hanson) Perkins.
She spent her childhood putting down roots in Bangor, Maine, and graduated from Bangor High School with the class of 1969. In 1970 Nancy married the love of her life and best friend, Andrew S. Koziol. They spent 54 wonderful years traveling with Andrew's Air Force platoon. After exploring far corners of the world together, they settled down in Holden, Maine, to raise three daughters, Gwen A. Ouellette of Corinth, Mindy L. Gould of Washington, and Kristany B. of Corinth. Nancy raised her family on love, laughter, and a lot of home cooking. Her pride and joy stem from the family she made.
Nancy made elegance seem effortless, rumor has it the Queen of England took lessons from her. Whether she was teeing off on the 1st hole, crafting, or cooking, she brought warmth, love, and a lot of pink to everything she did. Her laughter reached from Calais to Bangor, but was always the warmest and loudest at the kitchen table surrounded by her dear friends and family. Her legacy will live in our hearts, a cup of coffee, and her delicious five-spice chicken wings specially reserved for the holidays.
It's a special talent to make everyone feel seen and valued, but for Nancy, this was second nature. Nancy gave herself fully and generously to anyone in need, however they need. She had an endless supply of encouraging words, enough coffee to feed the Air Force, and a recipe for everything. From surviving breast cancer to decorating the Christmas tree, her strength, courage, and compassion were evident in everything she did.
Nancy was predeceased by her mother and father; and also her brother, Dana Perkins, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Nancy leaves behind her husband and daughters, along with sons-in-law, Scott Gould and Gilbert Townsend; and her grandchildren, Riley Van Steenburghe and husband, Drew, Griffin Marquis, Antyna Gilbert and her husband, Kaiden, Merritt Gould, Rhiannon Gould, Addyson Townsend and Ezra Green.
A celebration of life is currently being planned and details will be announced as soon as they become available. Arrangements by Simple Cremation of Maine.
