Patricia Evelyn Sturgeon, 95, of Orono, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by the love of her family.

Pat was born in Orono, Maine, on March 16, 1931, the daughter of the late Bernie and Alice Plummer. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Orono High School with the Class of 1949. That same year, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Sturgeon, and together they built a home and raised four sons.

Pat was employed by the Town of Orono for many years before retiring. Never one to sit still, she later began a second career as a greeter at Sam's Club, a position she truly enjoyed. Her warm smile, friendly nature, and genuine interest in people made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.

In retirement, Pat cherished her years at Pushaw Lake in Glenburn, where she lived for more than 30 years and enjoyed the beauty of Maine's seasons, family gatherings, and lakeside living. In later years, she moved to Dirigo Pines in Orono, where she was grateful for the friendships and community she found there.

Pat had a special place in her heart for animals. She was a devoted dog owner throughout her life and was well known for caring for stray animals in her neighborhood. Her kindness extended to all creatures, and she never hesitated to offer food, shelter, or comfort to an animal in need.

Above all else, Pat was devoted to her family. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she took pride in the lives they built and the memories they shared together.

Pat is survived by her sons, David Sturgeon and his wife, Tena, of Holden, Gary Sturgeon and his wife, Linda, of Mystic, Connecticut, and Michael Sturgeon and his wife, Jo-Lynn, of Old Town; her grandchildren, Brian, Lisa, Jen, and Eric; her great-grandchildren, Conor and Evan; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved sister, Mary Alice Bruce, with whom she was fortunate to share many special times at Dirigo Pines.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Sturgeon, and her son, James "Jim" Sturgeon.

Pat will be remembered for her loving heart, quiet strength, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and animals. She touched many lives throughout her 95 years and leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.

Those wishing to honor Pat's memory may make a donation to the Old Town Animal Orphanage, PO Box 565, Orono Maine 04473 a tribute that reflects her lifelong love and compassion for animals.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
