Richard A. Greene Sr., 78, passed away on February 1, 2026, just weeks shy of his 79th birthday. He was a man of quiet character, sharp wit, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Born in Westerly, Rhode Island, on February 15, 1947, Richard was the son of the late Randolph Green Sr. and Ethel Burton. In 1964, at the age of 17, he volunteered to join the military. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Richard returned home as a retired, disabled, veteran, but h never let that define his spirit or his work ethic. To provide for his family, he took on various labor jobs, proving that a quiet determination could overcome any obstacle. Later in life, he played a vital role in raising his granddaughter.
To his children he was 'Dad', the steady anchor of the family. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was 'Grampie', a title that he wore with immense pride. The man who was always ready with a witty remark or sarcastic joke. While Richard was a quiet and reserved man who enjoyed the solitude of hunting alone, he was also the life of the party when the music started. He loved singing and dancing. When he wasn't with family, he was mostly at home in the garage, working though projects with his hands.
Richard is survived by his brother, Roger Greene of Poland, ME.; his children, Richard Greene Jr. of Oklahoma,Kennith Greene and Audrey Greene, of Maine; his grandchildren, Dusting Moore, Kennith Greene, Devin Hudson, and Shuani Worster and her husband, Lucas; his beloved great-grandchildren, Aspen-Lee, River, Klaytin, and the soon-to-arrive, Sylas. He passes now to join his parents; his siblings; his wife, Janet Girvan; and his late partner, Lois Poter; as well as many friends.
He will be remembered greatly, loved dearly, and missed often.
In accordance with Richard's wishes, no formal services will be held. Cards, flowers, and cherished memories are welcomed and may be sent to Richard's family care of Shauni Worster at 38 Ames Rd. Kenduskeag, ME. 04450
