With a heavy heart and a reluctant smile, the family of Robert (Bobby) Babcock, announces his passing on March 9, 2026, at the age of 60. He fought a valiant battle with cancer, showing a stubbornness that was pure Bobby.
Bobby lived a life that defies an easy summary. He was a man who ran the full gamut of human experience.
For beneath a sometimes-rough exterior beat a heart of gold. Bobby was the first person you'd call in a crisis, because if he couldn't help he probably had a guy who could. He would give you the shirt off his back even if it was the only one he had. He had a magnetism that drew people in, and once you were in his orbit, you were family. His loyalty to those he loved was absolute and unwavering.
His laugh was infectious, and his eyes would light up with mischief just as a new shenanigan was about to take place. His sense of humor was his superpower, his shield, and his greatest gift to everyone who knew him. He used it to connect, to disarm, and to remind us all not to take life-or ourselves-too seriously.
He is survived by his children, whom he loved deeply: Brianna Smith; Lucas Babcock and Michael Babcock, his grandchildren: Nevaeh, Lucas, Paisley, Peyton, Cameron and Garrett. His siblings, Frank Babcock, John Babcock, Lisa Dunning, Shirley Lane, Tammy Staples, Norman Babcock and James Babcock and their spouses. He had many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, especially his nephew and sidekick, Jonny and a wide circle of friends who were more like chosen family, especially: Jessica Watson and Miranda Amburg. He was pre-deceased by his father, John Babcock, Sr. and his Mother, Sharon Stubbs and daughter Jessie.
A celebration of Bobby's life will be held on March 20th at 5 p.m. at the Carmel Snowmobile Club located at 194 Hampden Rd. Carmel.
He would say "It was a hell of a ride, and I got the best seat in the house".
Rest easy, Bobby. You earned it.
