Robert Wesley Dunbar Sr.

GUILFORD, Maine – Robert Wesley Dunbar, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. Born on August 4, 1947, in Concord, New Hampshire, Robert grew up in Canterbury, New Hampshire. He began his working career at the Tannery in Penacook and later worked at Universal Packaging before embarking on a long and dedicated career as a long-haul truck driver. For more than 30 years, until his retirement. 

Robert enjoyed the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He had a special love for animals and always enjoyed their companionship. Robert was known for his friendly nature and outgoing personality. He had many friends throughout his life and never met a stranger, enjoying conversations and connections wherever he went. Above all else, Robert cherished spending time with his family and creating memories with those he loved most. 

Robert was predeceased by his son, Robert Dunbar Jr.; his brother, William Dunbar; and his parents, William and Ada Dunbar. 

He is survived by his life partner, Barbara Lewis; his children, Heather Maguire, Kenny Dunbar and his wife Sandy, and Valarie Dunbar, all of New Hampshire; his daughter-in-law Billie-Jean Dunbar and his cherished granddaughter, Emily Maguire of New Hampshire. Robert will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, his kindness toward animals, his sociable spirit, and his unwavering devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Services will be announced at a later date.
