Shawn Michael Gray

BREWER - Shawn M. Gray, 41, passed unexpectedly on May 9, 2026. He was born December 20, 1984, in Bangor, Maine, the son of Wayne A. and Kathy L. Gray.

A graduate of Brewer High School, class of 2004. Shawn followed his childhood passion for heavy machinery by obtaining his commercial license, allowing him to operate the construction equipment he had admired since childhood. Whether he was behind the wheel of a semi-truck, driving a skidder or maintaining a landscape on a riding mower, Shawn was most at home outdoors and cherished the time spent driving alongside his father.

Shawn's deep appreciation for the Maine outdoors was a legacy from his Papa, Foster Gray, a retired forest ranger. He was equally known for his immense generosity and "helping hand" philosophy. A trait he deeply admired in his Nana, Irene Gray, through her decades of service with United Way.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Kathy Gray; his stepmom Joan Gray; cousin Brandy and her daughter Michaela; cousin Mandy; aunt Marilyn; uncle and aunt George and Debra; cousins Scott, Jennifer and Josie; aunt and uncle Linda and Wayne; cousin Stacey; aunt Terri; cousin Rachel and Tim; aunt and uncle Aimee and Sheldon; cousins Jonathan, Kristine, and Tyler; aunts Esther and Tasha, and Dora McCarthy, who was like a sister; life-long friends Mike Carr, Jeremy Look, and Chance Rudge. Shawn will be remembered by all his friends at Scotts Mulch in Medway and in the paving community and his mentor Irv Smith of BET Transport. Shawn was predeceased by his grandparents Foster and Irene Gray, Ken and Marie Robinson, Don and Marilyn Letteney and Doug and Florene Clark; his uncle Steve Gray; and his best friend, Michael Quinn.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 3PM at Corinthian Cemetery, Route 43, in Corinth, Maine.
