Steven James Barry Sr., 67, passed away peacefully at home September 25th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle with end stage COPD for the better part of a decade. Steve spent his final days with love and care from his wife and children along with the support of his beloved Barry siblings and in-laws who loved him like their own brother.

He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on February 11th, 1959. Steve worked for Boston Whaler in his younger years, and spent the majority of his life working in construction, where he made many friends, and maybe a few frenemies. He told things like they were, and could find solutions you couldn't imagine to finish difficult projects. He was a part of building many impressive structures, including the Bangor Waterfront, and the Northern Light (formerly Eastern Maine Medical Center) parking garage. His favorite project was the house he built alongside his wife to raise their family in. Steve would help anyone in need; even as it became harder to do physical labor, he loved "bossing" the ones needing advice around. Steve was always available for his son and daughter with help navigating work, life, house, and vehicle issues.

He cherished the seasons spent fishing with family, especially his two grandchildren and brothers-in-law, Herbert and Blaine. Many early mornings and even some sunsets were spent at Pushaw, East Grand, and Schoodic lakes, fishing in the boat, where precious memories were made and maybe even a "big fish" story or two was created. When he wasn't fishing, he very much loved spending life with his best friend and partner in crime, his wife Marilyn. Whether it be watching the Patriots, taking a foliage drive, riding four wheelers, or eating Chinese food, he always loved spending quality time with her. His wife found comfort in Steve's saying of the Lord's prayer in his last days.

Steve leaves a legacy of always making the best out of whatever life throws at you, and being a man of profound determination, grit, and good humor.

Steve is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Barry; mother, Madeline Barry; father-in-law, Herbert Linscott Sr; and mother-in-law, Paula Linscott.

Steve is survived by his best friend of 39 years (and wife for 33!), Marilyn Linscott-Barry of Hudson, ME; his son, Steven James Barry Jr. of Watertown, MA; and daughter, Alex Lee Barry, of Alton, ME; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Lily Isabelle Barry, and Steven James Barry III, and their mother, Linda Barry of Portland, ME. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary (Wayne) Benson of Fernandina Beach, MA, Lynn (Jim) Morrissey of Bellingham, MA, Kathleen (Rick) Knudsen of York, ME, and Karen (Doug) Fowler of Round Mountain, TX; and two of his brothers, Chris (Becky) Barry of Plymouth, MA, and Kevin (Sheryl) Barry of Anchorage, AK; along with his sister-in-law, Mary "Meme" Barry of Easton, MA. He is also survived by loving in-laws, Rhonda (Buddy) Cadorette of Bangor, ME, Herbert (Amanda) Linscott Jr. of East Winn, ME, Sandy (Chris) Ham of Chester, ME, and Blaine (Janet) Linscott of Lincoln, ME. as well as dozens of nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 17th at the Kingman Cemetery (1325 ME-170, Kingman, ME, 04451).
