Susan Thibert

October 29, 1944 — November 20, 2025

Susan "Sue" Thibert (née Walsh), 81, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Bangor, Maine, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born on October 29, 1944, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Sue was the daughter of Vincent and Emilie Walsh. She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1962 and went on to pursue her passion for nursing at the New England Deaconess School of Nursing, Class of 1965. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine in 1999.

Sue dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She spent the majority of her nursing career at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Grant 4, where she served as a charge nurse and later as a care manager. Her compassion and leadership were recognized when she received the Nursing Excellence Award in 1999.

Sue shared 59 years of marriage with her husband and best friend, Arthur Thibert. In 1982, they moved from Attleboro, Massachusetts, to Orrington, Maine, where they built their perfect country home and formed a cherished friendship with Artie and Annette Miles.

Family was at the heart of everything Sue did. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Stephen Thibert and his wife, Jen, and Kevin Thibert and his wife, Rhonda; as well as by her four grandchildren, Ben (and his wife, Sara), Kim, Allison, and Sam. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones-whether gathered at home or enjoying time at the family camp on Pleasant River Lake.

Sue especially treasured camping trips with her children and grandchildren. In her retirement she loved traveling with Art to Topsail State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where she found joy fishing, relaxing on the beach, and making life long friends.

Throughout her life-and especially during her illness-Sue exemplified strength and endurance. Her resilience inspired all who knew her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Cassidy and the team on P6 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for their exceptional professionalism, kindness, and compassion during Sue's final days.

May Susan "Sue" Thibert's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
