Terry was born August 31, 1940 in Medway, ME of a single mother, Rena Lyon. He grew up in Medway and graduated in June 1958 as valedictorian of the last class to graduate from Medway High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years being discharged with the rate of A.M.S 2nd class. He was stationed two years at N.A.S. Moiffett Field, Mountain View, CA. As a member of Fasron ten. This was adjacent to NASA's Ames Laboratory where NASA brought back a lot of our early satellites.
He also served fourteen months aboard the U.S.S. Cora Sea (CVA-43) and made one west pac cruise as part of V-6 airframes and VF-154 and F-8U fighter squadron.
He worked for Great Northern Nekoosa and Boudater for over 28 years. Retiring in 1999.
He was a member of local 37 UPIU and served as shop steward, vice president, and as union president 1994-1995 and helped negotiate the last good contract in 1995.
He also helped organize and lead the Pulp and Paperworkers resource council chapter at Bowater and other chapters in Northern and Eastern Maine. He served as the only union member on the state steering committee for the statewide referendum on the forestry compact in 1997.
He also helped create the Katahdin Area investment club with 21 other members who enjoyed meeting and investing in stocks.
He attended 2 years of college at Bryant Mcintosh, Lawrence, MA and Beal College, Bangor, ME.
He worked several years in MA in the paper industry, ATIP in Somerville, MA. Container Corp of America, Wakefield, MA. And Diamond International, Hyde Park, MA.
He also was a member of the Medway High School Alumni Reunion Committee and Served as Treasurer for the last 3 reunions.
He also did income tax returns for the A.A.R.P. for a number of years. He liked to hunt and fish and was an avid Boston Red Sox and UMaine Women's basketball fan. The Red Sox World Series win in 2004 completed his bucket list.
He was predeceased by his core family, Grandmother Sarah Lyon, Mother Rena Lyon and brother Athol (Dunnie) Lyon.
At his request there will be no services. He will be buried in the East Millinocket cemetery with his core family and his cat and companion 'Tiger'.
