Theresa Jean Legere

Theresa "Terry" (Heath) Legere died September 2, 2026, at her home in Orono. Terry was born July 9, 1936 in West Paris, Maine, the daughter of Odell and Beatrice (Ryerson) Heath. Terry graduated from West Paris High School in 1954. She attended and graduated from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston in 1957 and worked there as a Registered Nurse.

On September 14, 1957, Terry married Joseph "Eddie" Legere in Norway, Maine. They lived in Lewiston, Auburn, Old Town, Gilford, NH, and then settled in Orono. Terry and Eddie were married for 60 years. Terry was an active member of the Orono community where she helped with local, state and national elections. Terry was a longtime volunteer at the Orono Health Association's Thrift Shop where she was known for her organizational skills and her work at the sales counter. She spent countless hours sorting and organizing yarn, craft items and notecards. She also enjoyed her time with her bowling ladies and her knitting and needlework friends. Many years were spent knitting hats and mittens which she donated to local schools. She attended sporting events and music events at Orono High School when her daughters were students. Terry also enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their musical and athletic events, traveling to their concerts, plays, track and field events, swim meets, soccer games, baseball and softball games. She rarely forgot a face or the names of local students and their families, even after many years. The family has many memories of time spent with the Grindle family, both at Pleasant River Lake and on many long-distance travel camping adventures.

Terry is survived by her daughters and their families, Deborah and her husband, Kyle, of Rangeley, Denise and her husband, Andrew, of Orono; her grand and great-grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer Ladd; their children, Ashton and Claire of Scarborough, Megan and Daniel Nadeau; their daughter, Ava of Biddeford, Eileen and Nicholas York; their son, Aaron of Lagrange, Kaitlin and Wes Charlton; their son Graham of Nashville Tennessee, and Conor O'Donnell of St. Albans. Terry was predeceased by her husband, Eddie, in 2018; her parents; and her sister, Sheila (Heath) Daye.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Visiting Angels organization and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care over the past several months. Denise and Andy were kind and loving caregivers as Terry aged.
